Hair Extensions in Leamington Spa -What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Thinking about hair extensions but not sure what happens when you walk through the door? You're not alone. For many clients, the consultation is the part they know least about, and it's actually the most important part of the whole process.

At Carmen Walker, we don't pick up a single extension until we fully understand your hair, your lifestyle and what you're hoping to achieve. Here's exactly what to expect.

First, a through consultation

Before anything else, we sit down with you. Not a quick five-minute chat a real, considered consultation where we get to know your hair and what you want from it.

We assess:

  • Hair health - extensions work best on hair that's in good condition. If there's damage, dryness or breakage, we'll be honest with you and may recommend a treatment plan first. This protects both your natural hair and your investment.

  • Thickness and density - the weight and volume of your natural hair determines which method will sit most naturally and comfortably.

  • Colour match - we assess your natural tone, any existing colour, and how the light hits your hair. A seamless blend doesn't happen by accident; it takes time and a trained eye.

  • Lifestyle - do you exercise daily? Swim? Wear your hair up most of the time? These things matter when choosing the right method and deciding how to apply them.

Only once we have a clear picture do we talk about which technique is right for you, and give you an accurate price.

The methods we offer

We offer three extension methods at Carmen Walker, and the right one depends entirely on your hair and how you live in it.

Tape-in extensions are applied in thin, flat panels close to the root using a medical-grade adhesive. They lie flat against the head, making them one of the most comfortable and natural-looking options. Ideal for finer hair types, they typically last six to eight weeks before needing a re-fit.

Nano ring extensions use tiny metal rings - no heat, no glue, to attach individual strands close to the root. They're incredibly discreet and work well for a range of hair types, particularly those looking for a more long-term solution. With proper care, nano rings can last up to four months.

Weft extensions - hand-tied, flat weft or machine weft are applied in rows and offer the most volume and length in a single appointment. They're a popular choice for clients with medium to thick hair who want a fuller, more dramatic result.

We'll always recommend the method that suits your hair, not the one that's quickest to apply.

Colour matching - the detail that makes the difference

This is where boutique salon expertise really shows. Matching extensions to natural hair isn't just about finding a similar shade in a colour chart. We look at your base colour, any highlights or tonal variation, and how your hair reflects light throughout the day.

In some cases we'll blend two or three shades of extension to create a result that moves and catches the light the way your own hair does. The goal is always that nobody can tell, unless you want them to.

Pricing

Because every client's hair is different, we price extensions after the consultation, not before. The cost depends on the method chosen, the amount of hair needed, and the complexity of the colour match.

We'll always give you a clear, transparent quote before any commitment is made. No surprises.

Aftercare and maintenance

Extensions are an investment, and we want yours to last. After your appointment we'll walk you through exactly how to care for them at home which products to use (and which to avoid), how to brush them correctly, and when to come back in for a re-fit or refresh.

We stock Kérastase, Redken, K18 and Authentic Beauty Concept in the salon, all chosen specifically because they support the health and longevity of both your natural hair and your extensions.
